First home grants make me mad: a rant

I am madder than Mad Jack McMad about public money going into private property profits, and I've blogged about it over onDomain.com.au. Surely it makes more sense to spend on hospitals, schools, public transport and better child care than allow people to bank the profits they get selling their over-inflated homes to young suckers, err, first home buyers?
