RENOVATION FIX: gutter problems

Gutters should keep your house drier than an AA meeting, but common high-fronted gutters installed on plenty of Aussie houses are threatening to create a nationwide building disaster, according to Archicentre. The gutters are so evil that they tip water back into the walls of the home, where they can destroy walls, electrical wiring and interior plaster. Insurance policies won't protect you and the first visible sign something is wrong is that your ceiling starts to bow or cave in. Nice. According to today's Sydney Morning Herald story by Kelly Burke, there's a massive problem trying to rectify any building problems and an insurance nightmare waiting to explode. Do yourself a favour and check what kind of gutters are installed on your house - and change 'em if they are high-fronted!
